The Ruhr University Bochum is a leading research institution in the field of cognitive neuroscience. We investigate the neuronal basis of various cognitive processes in humans and animals as well as their disorders in the context of diseases. Emphasis is on the mechanisms of learning and memory in humans and birds, the neuronal basis of working memory, spatial navigation and intelligence, the influence of stress and arousal and the role of hemispheric asymmetries.
